List of Italian desserts and pastries

This is a list of Italian desserts and pastries. Italian cuisine has developed through centuries of social and political changes, with roots as far back as the 4th century BCE.

Bruttiboni is a type of almond-flavoured biscuit made in Prato, central Italy




Cannoli are Sicilian pastry desserts, consisting of tube-shaped shells of fried pastry dough, filled with a sweet, creamy filling usually containing ricotta.

Gelato is the Italian word for ice cream, derived from the Latin word "gelātus" (meaning frozen). It's made with milk, cream, various sugars, and flavoring such as fresh fruit and nut purees.[1]

Panforte is a traditional Italian dessert containing fruits and nuts, and resembling fruitcake or Lebkuchen.



Semifreddo is a class of semi-frozen desserts, typically ice-cream cakes, semi-frozen custards, and certain fruit tarts.



Zuppa Inglese is a custard-based dessert.
